FAQs

What happens during a home visit?

Typically, Alex will attend at a prearranged time to sit and discuss your needs. This will include taking a full medical history, taking note of any medications and current levels of care that you receive. Then a physical examination will be needed to determine a treatment plan. This will then be discussed with you to ensure you are happy to procede.

Often, exercises are prescribed as part of the rehabilitation. These will be clearly demonstrated and then emailed (or posted) to you after the session so you do not have to remember everything Alex said!

What conditions do you treat?

Alex is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, which means she specialises in orthopaedic and mobility rehabilitation. This includes post-operative knee or hip replacements, reduced mobility after a hospital stay, rehabilitation after fracture and general exercise aimed at maintaining independent living.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You simply need to contact Alex directly to discuss your needs.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on your circumstances.

In some cases, patients just need 1 or 2 sessions to ensure they are completing their exercises correctly. Others may need longer term rehabilitation. This will be discussed with you at the initial appointment and Alex will work with you to come up with a suitable treatment plan.

What is the cost?

How do I pay?

Contactless card payment or cash can be taken on the day.

You are also welcome to pay by BACS prior to the appointment if this is more convenient.

Other useful information

Alex will need access to the relevant body area that is to be treated. Loose or appropriate clothing to do this is necessary. There may be times that items of clothing need to be removed. You are very welcome to have a chaperone/partner present during the appointment.
