Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No. You can simply call or email to discuss your problem and book an appointment.
Is Alex Bowles a registered Physiotherapist?
Yes. Alex is registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
Do you just treat sports injuries?
No. Whilst Alex has a special interest in sports injuries, she has worked with many different people to help them relieve pain, improve function, improve mobility and recover from many types of injury or illness.
Will I just be given exercises?
In clinic, Alex is a 'hands-on' physio and uses lots of different therapeutic techniques to aid recovery. Exercises may be recommended to compliment the recovery, but rarely prescribed without any manual treatment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
It is very common for patients to wear just underwear garments during assessment and treatment. However, it is important you feel comfortable. Shorts (for lower limb) or a loose vest (for upper limb) treatment may be worn. Alex will always ensure you are comfortable and that modesty is maintained.
How many treatments will I need?
This will be discussed following a thorough assessment of your problem. On average, most patients require between 3-6 treatment sessions.
Do you do home visits?
Yes. A home visit may be arranged if you are unable to come into the clinic due to mobility issues and you would like advice, exercises or help with mobility after an illness, injury or hospital stay. Please call or message Alex to discuss your individual needs.
How do I book an appointment?
Simply email, WhatsApp, text or call Alex.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Alex has chosen to work with WPA, AXA Health, Cigna and AVIVA. Please mention this when booking and ensure approval is gained from the relevant insurer prior to booking.
